CAMPBELL RIVER/COMOX VALLEY – The North Island Hospitals Project has named Tandem Health Partners as the selected proponent for the public private partnership.

The naming of Tandem Health Partners as the selected proponent follows an extensive evaluation of proposals from the three teams that were short-listed and invited to submit proposals to design, build, finance and maintain two new hospitals in the Comox Valley and Campbell River.

Building bridges: Medical communities working together for new hospitals

Clinicians, physicians and staff from both communities have been working to help design new hospitals in the Comox Valley and Campbell River, but you could say they’ve really been building bridges.

Preferred proponent to be announced in Spring 2014

The $600 million North Island Hospitals Project (NIHP) is on track for completion in late 2017, says NIHP Chief Project Officer Tom Sparrow.

The three proponents seeking to design, build, finance and maintain the new hospitals in the Comox Valley and Campbell River submitted their technical proposals for evaluation last October. Sparrow says the evaluators decided to give the proponents some extra time to enhance their submissions.

The site preparation phase of the North Island Hospitals Project at the Campbell River Hospital is over with the completion of the final component in December.
